South West England - Corfe Castle

A historical country like England, there are countless of castles around the place. Corfe Castle, however is the first castle that I visit in the South West. It is located between Wareham and Swanage. You won't missed it as it is high up on the Purbeck Hills.

We took the car with us, and it was about half an hour drive from Bournemouth. I believe Wilts and Dorset Bus Company does provide services to reach the castle. If you are coming by rail, the nearest train station is Wareham.

I don't really interested in history. So I am not going to pretend that I know all about this castle (while it'd just be copy and paste from other internet websites! :p). From the outlook of the town and castle, you can tell that it should be around Medieval time, I think.

Lovely town centre

Nice tea house by the castle

The entrance fee is GBP5 per person. There are family tickets available at GBP12.50 for 2 adults and 3 children. There is no student discount, as this castle is maintained by National Trust, which the staffs claim to be a charity organisation. Alternatively, you can join their annual membership, and get free access to all the attractions by National Trust around the UK for about GBP100plus. Not a bad deal, if you are really into traveling.

Back to the old good times
